Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi meets with Polish FM Zbigniew Rau

On Wednesday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77) in New York. 

Wang Yi expressed that in June this year, China and Poland held the third plenary session of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee to connect and implement cooperation in various fields. Not long ago, the two heads of state had a successful phone call, providing strategic guidance for maintaining a healthy and stable momentum of China-Poland relations. 

The two sides understand and support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, providing a solid political guarantee for the development of bilateral relations. The two countries jointly practice genuine multilateralism, uphold the important principle of non-interference in internal affairs, and continue to inject new impetus into China-Poland cooperation.

Wang Yi expressed that China is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with Poland and promote cooperation in various fields including China-Europe freight trains, civil aviation, agriculture, and investment.

Poland is a major country in Central and Eastern Europe and an important leader in China-Central and Eastern European cooperation. China supports the establishment of a wholesale market for agricultural products from China and Central and Eastern European countries in Poland.

Rau said that Poland regards China as a friendly and reliable strategic partner, and the two countries maintain close high-level exchanges and exchanges at all levels. The two sides share common views on safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Poland adheres to the one-China policy and appreciates China's consistent foreign policy of peace. Poland is committed to promoting China-CEEC cooperation and is willing to strengthen agricultural trade cooperation with China. Poland attaches importance to China's international status and influence, and hopes that China will play an important role in restoring peace in Europe.

Wang Yi expressed that it is not in the interests of all parties that the Ukrainian crisis has expanded and prolonged. It is hoped that the conflict will subside as soon as possible and peace talks can be resumed. China has always advocated the establishment of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture to provide a lasting guarantee for peace, and will continue to be committed to promoting peace talks.
