Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on the sidelines of the general debate of the UNGA 77 in New York on Thursday.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the continuous enrichment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and will implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and continue to deepen the practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields towards the general direction of jointly building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future.
The two sides exchanged views on the G20 Bali Summit. Wang Yi said that the current negative impact of the Ukraine crisis is spilling over, and the global economy is facing the risk of serious recession. Major developed countries and emerging economies should take the Bali Summit as an opportunity to strengthen policy coordination and cooperation, to bring hope for global recovery. It is expected that Indonesia will play the leadership of the presidency, promote all parties to focus on their original aspirations, maintain unity, put development at the core, and promote the meeting to reach consensus on urgent issues such as food, climate, energy, and supply chain. China fully supports Indonesia in successfully hosting the summit and is willing to work closely with Indonesia to push for positive results from the summit.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Myanmar issue. Wang Yi expressed that China supports Indonesia in taking over the rotating presidency of ASEAN next year, maintaining ASEAN unity, promoting consultations and dialogues among all parties in Myanmar, and reaching political consensus under the framework of the constitution and law.
