Powerful storm Fiona, downgraded from a hurricane into a post-tropical cyclone late Friday, still hit parts of Nova Scotia, in eastern Canada with 85 mph winds as it barreled ashore in the early hours of Saturday morning.

More than 415,000 households lost power in the province, and close to 82,000 homes lost power on the neighboring Prince Edward island.  Downed trees and power lines were strewn in the streets.
