Thursday marks the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Andes plane crash. There were 45 passengers aboard the plane, a rugby team from Uruguay, and their family and friends.
A total of 16 young men survived freezing temperatures for over 70 days and faced an unimaginable choice as they waited for help. The ordeal was brought to wider audiences by the 1993 movie, “Alive.”
Today, the survivors recount their experiences. CGTN'S Joel Richards reports.
