It’s being called the ‘long march,’ and thousands are participating in a demonstration to demand early elections in Pakistan, walking and riding the stretch from Lahore to Islamabad on Friday.
Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan and his supporters are piling pressure onto a government already struggling. Caravans of people are pushing for snap polls and joining Khan’s opposition.

Khan has been fanning the anti-government flames since his removal in April through a parliamentary vote, and last week’s ruling that barred him from running for office for five years.
“This march is not for politics and not for elections or for religion. There is only one motive for the rally that I want to make Pakistan free,” Khan said from Lahore.
