Ballot processors around the United States are gearing up to count the votes on for the November 8 U.S. midterm elections, while more than 13.8 million votes have already been cast in 44 states.
Different states have different timelines and parameters around when and who can cast an early vote, but pre-election ballots numbering in the millions have already been cast in the states Florida, California, Georgia and Texas.
The midterm elections will decide which party controls the U.S. Senate, and elect local and state leaders. Many counties have ramped up security as early voting stations open around the country.
