California was already the first U.S. state to require residents to compost their food scraps, and now its upping its sustainability game even higher.  

The prohibition of single-use plastic produce bags, which will eventually be replaced inside grocery stores with compostable, reusable bags, is the state’s latest step toward a greener economy.
