Deadly floods across Pakistan in August and September following several years of high temperatures have made it much harder to grow chili in Pakistan. Officials have already estimated damage from the floods at over $40 billion.

Farmers are struggling to cope with the extreme climate conditions and have suffered heavy losses in their crops. Pakistan is ranked fourth in the world for chili production and agriculture forms the backbone of its economy.
