Mexico is debating the future of the institution that oversees that nation’s federal elections.

On Sunday, thousands of protestors marched in protest of the federal government's electoral reform bill that would bring sweeping changes to Mexico’s National Electoral Institute.

And critics say it would make the INE more political and threaten its independence.
