Qatar and FIFA announced Friday in a surprising reversal that alcohol sales would be banned inside the perimeters of its eight stadiums for the World Cup.
The roughly one million global soccer fans on the way to Qatar who may want a beer are being directed to designated fan zones and licensed venues outside the official events.In 2010, Qatar beat out the United States to host the 2022 World Cup.
