The once-sprawling green forest ranges in California’s famous Sierra Nevada mountain range are dying out at a much larger scale than previously thought.
A recent study found nearly a third of southern Sierra Nevada conifer forests have disappeared in the last decade. And the trend is posing an existential threat to a number of wildlife species.
