Cuba holds its first women’s boxing match

Cuba made history this month when the country held its first official sanctioned women’s boxing match.
Although Cuban women have made outstanding performances in other sports, boxing had not been a choice for them over the past 60 years. The introduction of the sport has been enthusiastically welcomed.
