COVID-19 remains a global health emergency but is reaching an inflection point. That’s the World Health Organization’s latest coronavirus assessment.

The WHO thinks it will be ready to declare that health emergency over by the end of year as the world moves to treat COVID as endemic rather than a pandemic.

But that has implications for how countries prepare for the next pandemic as a report from the International Red Cross this Monday warns most aren’t prepared for one.
