Afghans film journey through 11 countries to enter U.S.

The journey for these Afghan migrants started with a humanitarian visa for Brazil: one of the few remaining exit routes for Afghans fleeing Taliban rule.

 

It ends, after a long and perilous trek overland across at least 11 countries, with scaling a towering #border wall and jumping onto U.S. soil.

More than a year after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Kabul, the number of Afghans arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border to seek asylum has soared, U.S. government data shows, with hundreds of people each month risking a human smuggling route that is known for kidnapping, robbery, and assault, Reuters reports.

Even then, the Afghans face uncertainty about whether they can find permanent refuge in the U.S.
