Cyclone Gabrielle is wrecking parts of New Zealand, forcing the country to declare a national state of emergency.

The island nation is seeing damage from landslides, flooding, and massive ocean swells.

Many flights have been canceled, leaving thousands stranded while power stations failed due to the storm, leaving many without electricity or cell phone coverage.

Authorities are urging people to evacuate homes near beaches and rivers which continue to swell from the rains and storms.

Australia and Britain have both pledged their support, while some in hard-hit areas are being told to conserve water and food.
