Dozens of homeless people in downtown Washington DC were evicted this week from a homeless encampment, the largest in the nation's capital.
Fewer than half of the residents received permanent housing ahead of the closure. The decision to remove the people is indicative of a much larger problem with more than half a million homeless across the country.
