On February 18, 2023 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, met with Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Micheal Martin on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Wang Yi expressed that China-Ireland relations have maintained a momentum of healthy development. China has completely overcome the impact of the epidemic and its economy is recovering strongly, which will bring more opportunities to countries around the world, including Ireland.

China is willing to work together with Ireland to support each other's major concerns, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and restart exchanges in various fields. It is hoped that Ireland will remain open and inclusive, and provide fair, just and non-discriminatory treatment for Chinese companies. In the face of changes and chaos in the world, China and Ireland should support multilateralism, strengthen communication and cooperation, jointly oppose unilateral actions and work together to maintain world peace and stability.

Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense Micheal Martin said that China is an important cooperative partner of Ireland. The two countries have maintained friendly exchanges since the establishment of diplomatic relations, and cooperation in various fields, especially economic and trade relations, has developed rapidly.
