Israeli forces killed at least 11 people in a raid in the occupied city of Nablus. Israel says they were targeting militants in the four-hour raid.
At least 102 civilians were injured and several died, including a 72-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy. Palestinian officials say Israeli forces encircled the home of two Islamic Jihad leaders and killed them.
Two Israeli settlers were later allegedly killed by a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank. The killing led to dozens of settlers attacking Palestinian homes, setting many ablaze. At least one Palestinian was killed, and several were rescued from burning homes.
Israel announced plans earlier in 2023 to expand illegal settlement building in occupied Palestine. The U.S. and others condemned the move, saying Israel’s plans make peace difficult. China supports an independent Palestinian State, calling for an end to Israel’s illegal occupation.
