Twenty years ago this week, the U.S. launched a punishing military air assault on Iraq.

It was by many accounts America's biggest strategic mistake since the Vietnam War.

Two decades later, some U.S. troops are still there as are the grim statistics written in lost lives, a conflict that cost trillions of dollars, and damage to the U.S. reputation.
