On April 1, 2023 CLASS CIRCLE Conference - Chinese Immersion: Research, Curriculum, Learning, and Evaluation was held at the Chinese Embassy in the United States. Nearly 200 Chinese language teachers, education officials and industry experts from all over the United States attended the meeting.
The conference was co-organized by the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) and Beijing Language and Culture University. It demonstrated the practical experience and achievements of Chinese immersion teaching, and discussed the development and future of Chinese immersion teaching.
Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in the United States Xu Xueyuan attended and delivered a speech. In her speech, Xu thanked all the participants for their outstanding contributions to the development of Chinese education in the United States, and said that the Chinese embassy in the United States will always pay attention to and support the development of Chinese education in the United States.
The first half of the conference focused on the theme of language proficiency improvement, with discussions in the form of sub-forums. The second half focused on how to achieve important teaching topics such as cultural teaching, social-emotional learning, and reading and writing levels through effective and interesting teaching design.
After the conference , the participants also enjoyed a performance by students from the Chinese Immersion Program in the Washington, D.C. area.
