A major shift is underway in the global economy. And many economists are calling it the next phase of globalization. It follows the supply chain mishaps brought by the pandemic. Many U.S. companies are now reducing their reliance on factories in China and other parts of Asia. And they’re turning more to Mexico.

For nearly three decades, Mexico has been a leading trade partner with the United States. But experts say this recent economic reconfiguration is making land ports along the U.S.-Mexico border increasingly crucial to U.S. economic growth.
