The United Nations celebrated the 14th UN Chinese Language Day

Chinese was established as an official language of the United Nations in 1946. The UN observed Chinese Language Day on April 20th this year to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity under the theme of “Chinese Wisdom for a Green World.”

The President of the General Assembly of the 77th session, Korosi Csaba, visited the Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition at the UN Headquarters with the permanent representative of China to the UN, Zhang Jun, and share insights on the importance of the Chinese language and culture.

April 20 marked the 14th UN Chinese Language Day. World-renowned Chinese sci-fi writer and Hugo Award winner Liu Cixin gave an online presentation about the “Sustainable Future Through Sci-Fi Lens” to share Chinese wisdom on sustainable development.

The theme for this year’s Chinese Language Day is “Chinese Wisdom for a Green World.” Liu Cixin answered questions from the audience about sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and the use of outer space resources.
