A group of migrants, mostly from Venezuela, have been evicted from a camp that was set up near the same Ciudad Juarez processing facility where a deadly fire killed at least 40 migrants in March.

Authorities sent the migrants to a makeshift shelter set up by the local government. A similar camp known as "Little Venezuela" was also disbanded in late 2022 after around 800 migrants set up a small tent city near the banks of the Rio Grande.

Authorities have previously encouraged migrants to check into processing centers and shelters, but there is growing distrust with the government as many Venezuelans claim Mexican authorities try to send them 'back south,' impeding their passage to the U.S. where many wish to apply for asylum.
