Ambassador Xie Feng hosted dinner to celebrate Henry Kissinger's 100th birthday

Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng hosted a dinner in celebration of former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's 100th birthday at the Chinese Consulate General in New York on Wednesday, May 31.

In his speech, Xie Feng said that Dr. Kissinger is an old friend and good friend of the Chinese people, a pioneer and promoter of China-U.S. relations, and has made historic contributions to the normalization of China-U.S. ties. For more than half a century, Dr. Kissinger has constantly promoted the development of China-U.S. relations and played an irreplaceable role in enhancing communication, cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

Xie Feng pointed out that the world is chaotic and intertwined, China-U.S. relations have encountered serious difficulties, and history has once again reached a crossroads. He said that the world needs to learn from Dr. Kissinger's thorough wisdom, win-win strategy, and fearless responsibility.

Kissinger thanked the ambassador for holding the celebration and happily recalled his experience working with Chinese leaders to normalize China-U.S. relations. He said the two countries should strive to avoid conflict and confrontation, jointly address world challenges, treat each other as potential friends rather than potential enemies, and contribute to world peace, prosperity and development.
