Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed to the White House on the South Lawn on Thursday, June 22 by U.S. President Biden as part of his official visit to the United States.
A state dinner follows Thursday evening.
White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford and Guest Chef Nina Curtis prepared an exciting menu featuring vegetarian fare, which includes a first course of marinated millet and grilled corn kernel salad with compressed watermelon, and a main course of stuffed portobello mushrooms and saffron-infused risotto.
A rose and cardamom-infused strawberry shortcake will be presented for dessert in the State Dining Room of the White House on Thursday.
Modi has been to the United States five times since becoming prime minister in 2014, but the trip will be his first with the full diplomatic status of a state visit.
