Cuba hosted the first U.S. Film Festival on the island in late June. A screening of documentary films were shown in Havana by the American Film Showcase.

AFS is the U.S. State Department's film diplomacy program. The program hosts workshops and screenings with U.S. filmmakers in more than 60 countries.

The cultural initiative was the result of collaboration between the U.S. embassy in Havana, the Cuban Film Institute and the island’s Culture Ministry.

CGTN’s Luis Chirino has the story.
