On June 28, Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, was invited to attend the meeting of Advanced Medical Technology Association and delivered a speech, emphasizing that China's new journey will bring new development, and create new opportunities.

Ambassador Xie pointed out that since the beginning of the year, China's economy has recovered strongand got off to a good start. In the first quarter, the GDP grew by 4.5% year-on-year. The second quarter is expected to be faster than the first quarter, and the World Bank predicts that China's economy will grow by 5.6% this year. China's super-large-scale market, complete industrial system, and abundant human resources are irreplaceable, and the fundamentals of China's long-term economic growth will not change.

Recently, executives of many multinational companies have set off a “wave of visits to China” and cast a “vote of confidence” in the Chinese economy, he said.

Ambassador Xie emphasized that opening-up to the outside world is China’s basic state policy. China is the main trading partner of more than 140 countries and regions, the most important export market of more than 50 countries and regions. Only by continuing to open up Chinese modernization will be realized. China has no reason to close its doors, but some countries want to close their doors to China, he added.

China will continue to promote high-level opening-up, and continue to expand market access. China is actively advancing its accession to the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

From January to May, the actual investment in China by France, the United Kingdom, and Canada increased by 430%, 179%, and 170% year-on-year respectively.

All parties generally value the huge opportunities brought by China's economic recovery and are full of confidence and expectations for China's development prospects.

Ambassador Xie said that China-U.S. medical cooperation has broad prospects and great potential. China has always put people's health first. According to the report of the international consulting company Roland Berger, it is estimated that the Chinese medical device market will reach $320 billion in 2030, becoming the largest market in the world. China's elderly population over the age of 60 has reached 260 million, and will exceed 300 million in 2035, and the middle-income group will exceed 800 million in the next 15 years. The demand for high-quality drugs and medical services continues to grow rapidly, which will provide a large market space for pharmaceutical companies.
