On July 3, Chinese Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen.
The two sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. relations and multilateral and bilateral economic and financial issues of common concern, according to a statement released by the Chinese Embassy in the U.S.
Ambassador Xie Feng said that a healthy and stable Sino-U.S. relationship conforms to the common interests of both countries and is also the common expectation of the international community.
"China has always viewed and handled Sino-U.S. relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation put forward by President Xi Jinping," said Ambassador Xie Feng in the statement. "It is hoped that the U.S. and China will meet each other halfway, fully implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, use actions to eliminate interference, manage differences, and strengthen dialogue and cooperation with sincerity, so as to promote Sino-U.S. relations to stabilize and return to the right track."
Ambassador Xie Feng stated China's main concerns on economic and trade issues, and asked the U.S. to attach great importance to them and take actions to resolve them.
According to the statement, both sides believed that the meeting was candid and constructive, and agreed to continue to maintain communication.
