Health officials in the United States have issued an alert after five cases of locally-acquired malaria were detected for the first time in decades.
The life-threatening disease is spread by mosquitoes, which are normally found in tropical climates.
But as global temperatures rise – more places are becoming hospitable to mosquitoes – and the deadly diseases they carry.
