California braces for unofficial start of wildfire season

Extreme heat warnings have been in effect for parts of California, as the state braces for its first major heat wave of the year. Some cities are expected to see temperatures go as high as 43 degrees Celsius, nearly 110 degrees Fahrenheit, prompting warnings from health officials. 

The weather forecast has also put California’s fire department on edge, preparing for what could be the “unofficial start” of this year’s wildfire season.
