Rising sea levels pose risks to coastal populations all around the world, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres warned earlier this year, during the first-ever debate on rising sea levels.

In Brazil, a country with nearly 7,500 kilometers of coastline, a one-time beach paradise in Rio de Janeiro state is an example of what climate change and human action can inflict on seaside communities.
