Close to 1,200 barrels of crude oil spilled from Petroecuador's facilities into the Pacific Ocean.
The company says it has controlled 90 percent of the spill's impact on land and 60 percent at sea. At least 2.5 miles of Las Palmas Beach has been contaminated. Investigators are looking into the cause of the spill.
