The second Russia-Africa summit will take place this week on Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The summit will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin is expected to hold one-on-one talks with individual African leaders.
At least 40 African heads of state and senior leaders are expected to attend the summit with their delegations.
On the agenda will be trade, security, and grain and fertilizer supply issues, according to Russian officials.
Moscow announced last week that it was leaving the UN-brokered Black Sea grain deal, which allowed Ukraine, one of the largest grain exporters in the world, to safely export grain from its ports.

Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea grain deal could cause food shortages in parts of Africa and push up food prices globally.A peace proposal for Ukraine that African leaders have proposed “could be discussed” at the summit, Russian ambassador-at-large Oleg Ozerov told reporters.
The Russian mercenary group Wagner may also be a point of discussion.
The Wagner group contracts its services with countries like Sudan and Mali in exchange for natural resources like gold.Wagner leaders staged a brief rebellion last month against Moscow before being relocated to Belarus.
Russia’s Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Wagner’s work in Africa will continue.
The first Russia-Africa summit was held in 2019.
