Colombian artist Fernando Botero was hailed by some as the "Picasso of Latin America." 

His paintings and sculptures of rotund women and men, whom some considered "fat," are both admired and criticized in the art world. His works have been exhibited all over the world. 

Our correspondent in Bogotá looks back at one of the most famous artists to come out of Colombia.
