Healthcare workers in the United States are staging their largest-ever strike in recent history.

Tens of thousands of employees at Kaiser Permanente, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems, walked off the job on Wednesday in a three-day strike, after negotiations to reach a new labor contract failed between their employer and the union.

The majority of the strikers are in California, where the company is based, and patients are warned about potential delays.
