Close to 30,000 Thais, mostly from rural areas, work in Israel’s agriculture sector, where many are underpaid and exposed to dangerous conditions.
Thailand’s foreign ministry said it did not have any information about the hostages’ conditions but believed that they would not be harmed.
Thailand and Philippines are among the largest sources of migrant workers for Israel.
