“Billion-dollar disaster” is a term used to identify disasters that cause damages exceeding a billion dollars, and it’s been a significant indicator for the study of extreme weather trends over the last four decades. 

And this year has been no different, as 2023 has already witnessed $23 billion worth of damage from natural disasters.
