The Palestinian Red Crescent is demanding the reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt. The crucial lifeline was shut after an initial aid convoy of 20 trucks rolled through on Saturday.

Before the Israel-Hamas conflict began on Oct. 7, more than 400 aid trucks brought supplies to Gaza each day. Dozens of cargo vehicles are on the Egyptian side of the border waiting for the crossing to reopen.

Israel said on Saturday it would only allow shipments of medicine, water and food – no fuel.

Gaza is home to 2.3 million people; about 1 million have been displaced by the conflict.
