The tenth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption opened in Atlanta, the United States on Monday, December 11. China sent a high-level delegation led by the Ambassador of China to the United States Xie Feng to expound on China’s position and promote China’s anti-corruption strategies.
China’s Ambassador to the U.S. Xie Feng said that China has always taken a clear-cut stand against corruption, with support from the Chinese people.
“China has waged a battle against corruption on a scale unprecedented in China’s history, adhered to a comprehensive strategy to ensure no no-go zones, no ground and no tolerance for corruption, and pursued efforts to ensure that officials do not dare to be, are not able to be, and do not want to be corrupt,” Ambassador Xie said.
Xie said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the UN Convention against Corruption.
“China, as one of the first countries to sign and ratify the Convention, has always faithfully implemented the obligations of the Convention, participated in international anti-corruption rules setting across the board, proposed anti-corruption initiatives and propositions in a constructive manner, and promoted with great efforts practical cooperation in law enforcement and justice, becoming an active participant in and an important contributor to global anti-corruption governance,” Xie added.
In an interview with CGTN, China’s Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Foreign Ministry Ma Xinmin said China has become a leading participant in and an important contributor to global anti-corruption governance.
China consistently supports the United Nations in playing a central role in international cooperation against corruption, with the United Nations Convention against Corruption as its core, he said. China stands ready to work with other countries, and will actively assist developing countries in enhancing their anti-corruption capabilities, Ma added.
