Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed during his trip to APEC in San Francisco in November to invite 50,000 American students to visit China over the next five years with the aim of increasing people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. The first exchange trip was organized this month by the Long Beach-Qingdao Sister Cities Association. Our Los Angeles correspondent Ediz Tiyansan has spoken to some of the students, who reflected on the impact the trip has had on their lives.
