This special runway show has wowed audiences at the “Prelude to Lunar New Year Gala” hosted by China Media Group. In collaboration with CCTV, designer Andy Yu presented a sustainable collection for the celebration of the Year of Loong (Dragon).

The concept of “sustainable fashion” is illustrated by incorporating traditional Chinese culture elements with eco-friendly materials and techniques. Do you know which outfit design matches with which Chinese element?

Andy Yu has gained international recognition for this avant-garde approach to up-cycled fashion. He transformed local thrift store finds, like tablecloths, into creative fashion pieces. Most of the decorative elements used in this collection, such as flowers and metallic decorations, are found in second-hand shops, on the side of streets, and trails. His design gives new life to discarded fabrics and garments that would have otherwise ended up in landfills.

Through this fashion show, he hopes to educate and inspire the younger generation to adopt sustainable fashion practices daily.
