U.S. Federal Reserve leaves interest rates unchanged despite inflation easing in May

U.S. inflation dropped for the second straight month in May, easing fears over resurgent price rises.

But that wasn’t enough for the central bank. 

The Federal Reserve left its elevated benchmark interest rate unchanged to try to snuff out lingering inflation in parts of the economy.
