U.S. marks Juneteenth holiday despite social setbacks

June 19th is known as Juneteenth in the United States. 

Exactly 159 years ago, right after the Civil War, the last enslaved people in the country in the U.S. state of Texas were told they were free.

Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery, is now a federal holiday in the U.S. and celebrated by Americans every year.
