July 11th is designated by the United Nations as World Population Day — marking the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development, whose main objective is “the recognition that women’s sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights are cornerstones of sustainable development.”

While its 'Programme of Action' has revolutionized women’s reproductive health over the decades, many challenges still remain.

Ediz Tiyansan reports from Los Angeles, California.
