As the second day of Olympic Games comes to an end, competition is heating up for medals in Paris.

Chinese swimmer Xu Jiayu came in first in the Men’s 100M Backstroke Semifinals, winning with a time of 52.02.

Tang Qianting came out on top for the women’s 100M Breaststroke Semifinals with a time of 1:05.83. Both athletes will head to their respective Finals on Monday, July 29.

Simone Biles made her triumphant return to the Olympics Sunday, July 28, shaking off a calf injury before topping the qualifying rounds.

This was Biles's first return to the Olympics mat after pulling out abruptly from the Tokyo 2020 Games suffering from the “twisties.”

Men’s gymnastics are preparing for the first medals to be rewarded on Monday, July 29. China is expected to take on Japan in the gold medal competitions, with Ukraine, Great Britain, the U.S., and Italy in competition too.

The U.S. Men’s Basketball team bowled over Serbia, winning the group game 110 over 84 points.

Women’s Basketball will hit the courts on Monday, July 29, with the U.S. Women’s Basketball Team against Japan in the second group round.

South Sudan Men’s Basketball Team clinched a victory over Puerto Rico Sunday, their first Olympic victory since becoming an independent nation in 2011.

Japan’s Kano Koki took the Gold in Men’s Fencing on Sunday, defeating France’s Borel Yannick.

Japan is on top of the leaderboard with four gold medals and seven medals total. Australia follows behind with four gold and six medals overall, and the U.S. is in third with three gold medals, but 12 medals overall.

China holds three gold medals with six medals overall.
