Organizers of Paris 2024 are hoping for better weather over the next few days, which would allow for the water quality of the River Seine to improve ahead of a triathlon competition set for Tuesday.

Heavy rain over the last 24 hours forced Sunday’s practice session to be canceled over safety concerns about the water. If it does not improve, the swim section will be dropped and the event will become a duathlon, made up of cycling and running.

CGTN's Dan Williams spoke with New Zealand's Hayden Wilde about the issues facing the triathlon and on the possibility of reducing the competition to a biathlon.
