Top athletes from China put their abilities on display on the third day of the Paris Olympics, shining on the world stage in a variety of competitions.

China’s Lian Junjie and Yang Hao were awarded Olympic gold medals after winning the men’s synchronized 10m platform diving at the Paris Olympics on July 29, 2024.

China’s Xu Jiayu won silver in the Men’s 100 meter backstroke final. Xu previously won two silver medals in the 2016 Olympic games and was the first male swimmer from China to win a medal in the backstroke.

China’s world champion Tang Qianting won the silver medal in the 100 meters breaststroke as South Africa’s Tatjana Smith received the country’s first gold of the Paris Olympics.

Team China also took the silver medal in the men’s team gymnastics.

Defending champion Cheung Ka-long of Hong Kong, China, won gold and retained his title in men’s foil, beating first-time Olympian Filippo Macchi of Italy 15-14 in a disputed bout.

China’s women’s volleyball team advanced with a 3-2 victory in the preliminary round, over its first opponent, the U.S., on Monday, July 29.

Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha secured a 4-2 victory over Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin of South Korea in the table tennis mixed doubles semifinals on Monday. They will advance to play Ri Jong-sik and Kim Kum-yong of DPRK in the finals.
