One of the most highly anticipated events at Paris 2024 is the marathon which begins at 2 a.m. ET on Aug. 10. In the men’s event, Kenya’s Kelvin Kiptum was expected to feature in the medals after breaking the world marathon record in Chicago in 2023. But those dreams ended when Kiptum was tragically killed in a car crash in February 2024.

Benson Kipruto who came second to Kiptum in Chicago, says that both he and fellow Kenyan, defending Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, will do whatever it takes to win gold for Kenya and honor Kiptum.

Kipruto has been speaking with CGTN’s Dan Williams.
