It’s been one year since the historic Hawaiian town of Lahaina burned to the ground killing more than a hundred people on the U.S. island of Maui.

The exact cause of the fire still remains under investigation. The state’s governor last week announced a $4 billion settlement resolving hundreds of lawsuits filed by individuals and businesses. It comes at a time when many families are still dependent on basic needs like food and medicine.
