It’s now been three years since Texas enacted the first ‘heartbeat bill’ in the United States, banning all abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected usually around 6-weeks into a pregnancy -- before most women even know they are pregnant.
The law was a precursor to the state’s near-total-ban on abortion, which took effect after the Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to an abortion in the U.S. two years ago.
Texas women have been forced to flee the state for care, while others have nearly died. CGTN’s Toni Waterman reports.
